Psychology:
Flitters will Impress to anyone without any kind of prejudice, whether gender, age, or sexuality. A person can even Impress multiple firelizards. Firelizards lack the ability to communicate in words, but they have limited telepathic ability that allows them to communicate using pictures and emotions that are often put together to communicate full thoughts. They will often use vocal sounds and body language to get their point across if they are not understood through their limited telepathic communication or if it is simply easier. They are however, much more affected by emotions and events around them, to the point they may become hysteric. In which case, their owner must try to calm them.
The bond that humans and firelizards create when they Impress at their hatching is somewhat similar to that of a dragon and rider, but is not as strong. This is the reason it is possible for a person to attach more than one flitter at a time. When they hatch, flitters generally attach themselves to the nearest person with food or one of their own relatives. If a firelizard is mistreated or the conditions do not suit them, they are fully capable of abandoning their bonded and becoming wild, although it would take a lot of pushing due to the fact that they are very loyal
Firelizards have a genetic memory that is passed down from generation to generation, making it possible for them to remember big events, such as the eruption of the volcano at Landing, although they were not alive during that time. It is not always very significant, although all natural events are recorded and passed down throughout their species. These memories are generally jumbled and hard to understand, but it is this reason that dragons can Between through time.
Mating and Reproduction:
Female firelizards fly to mate after they mature; which can take up to two Turns in some cases to reach full maturity though some do fly early. All females can clutch, but if they do and the sizes of the clutches vary. When a firelizard flies, they will either choose a mate from the males that choose to pursue them or they are caught by a male strong enough to succeed in catching her before her choice is made. They are capable of producing clutches of eggs roughly equal in size to that of their dragon counterparts.
