Appearance:
Standing at five foot six, Dalonia is average in size with an athletic and fit physique. Black hair frames a face with strong features; a squared jaw, high cheekbones and a pair of expressive pale blue-green eyes. Her body sports a few scars from various minor injuries over her years as a less than reputable young woman. Her manner of dress often includes leather trousers in varying dark shades though black and brown are prevalent. A tunic of dark blue or green isn’t uncommon though is almost always coupled with a reinforced leather corset that doubles as armor. Always wielding a sword and several knives as well as a pistol, she prefers blades to projectile weapons aside from bows and arrows. However, should the job require it, she can clean up quite nicely and play the part of a lady quite well if the situation calls for it.
Personality:
Loathe to let anyone close; very few people know Dalonia’s true nature. Sure she seems to hold a grudge against the Weyr given the fact she often goes out of her way to destroy or at the very least hinder tithing trains. She also seems to have a total disregard for life given the fact that for the right price she’d, as they say, “kill her own mother”. These and many more paint a picture of her as a rather ruthless mercenary and assassin that she does nothing to deter or dispel; in fact she often encourages the reputation if only because it brings in more business.
While much that is said about her as a mercenary is in some way true, there are layers upon layers of reasons behind what she does. She may seem utterly without remorse and for the most part she is but that is only because she is usually very careful about her marks and the people she fights for. She has her own agenda and if a client’s agenda either falls into line with her own goals or has nothing to do with them, she will take a job. However, that being said the one thing she will absolutely not stand for is the exploitation and intentional harm of innocent children and defenseless animals. It is a flash-fire trigger for her. It is quite uncharacteristic of Belladonna but very much a part of the woman named Dalonia.
Dalonia’s hatred of the Weyrs and even dragonriders comes from something that she does her best to keep to herself. One of the rare few that possess the ability to converse with and hear all dragons, as a child this ability was discovered and Dalonia was forcibly removed from her home at Beastcraft Hall to be brought to the Weyr. After her escape she learned to fend for herself and hide herself in the Wilderness, making a name for herself—albeit a infamous one—and learning invaluable skills.
With a tendency to use her feminine charm and playacting skills for her “job”, Dalonia consequently cleans up quite nicely and can affect the manners of a high born lady for all that she was born to a pair of Master Beastcrafters. With a flattering gown, a bit of jewelry and some time spent with her hair she could probably pass as a Lady Holder just as easily as a Pillowcrafter and uses this skill to get close to certain marks that are susceptible to such things. It is also how she earned her moniker of Belladonna; the lovely yet deadly flower.
Innocence and naivety gone, Dalonia is a cynical young woman who knows how to watch out for herself and is more than capable of getting what she needs to survive through subterfuge, theft and sometimes even the honest way—though she almost never has money that wasn’t earned at the death or ruination of another individual. In short, she is wily, clever, stealthy, skilled and highly motivated to remain independent of any faction, hold or weyr that might seek to use her for her less well known abilities. She will not be a pawn!
